Biography
Duncan joined Mellor Olsson as a Law Clerk in early 2016, before moving to the role of Solicitor following his admission to practise.
He works closely with Partners and other senior practitioners in the area of planning law, providing advice and assistance to Councils for a wide range of matters arising under the Development Act, as well as appearing in the Environment, Resources and Development (ERD) Court for enforcement proceedings and applications for review.
Duncan works across a wide range of commercial and civil litigation matters, assisting in debt recovery, building and contract disputes, lease and property disputes, and estate litigation. He also has a growing insolvency and bankruptcy practice where he assists clients with winding up proceedings and acting for liquidators in respect of preference payments.
His accounting background has given him an appreciation of the importance of achieving commercial outcomes for his clients, and an intricate understanding of various financial documents. His experience with an array of complex legal matters enables him to quickly grasp challenging and unusual concepts, to work towards a positive outcome for his clients.
In addition to the ERD Court, Duncan regularly appears in matters in the Magistrates Court of South Australia, as well as both the District, and Supreme Courts. Duncan is also well versed in mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution, having resolved several complex disputes.
