Biography
Matilda joined Mellor Olsson in 2024 and works closely with senior practitioners in the firm's Employment Law team, advising employers across a broad range of workplace relations and industrial matters.
Her experience includes the drafting and implementation of workplace policies and procedures, advising on compliance with statutory obligations, defending unfair dismissal and general protections applications and conducting wage entitlement reviews and analysis.
Matilda has developed particular expertise in workplace investigations and regularly assists employers in responding to allegations of misconduct, bullying, harassment, discrimination and governance issues. She conducts investigations with a strong focus on procedural fairness, risk management, and achieving practical outcomes, while helping organisations navigate sensitive matters with confidence.
In recognition of her knowledge and experience in this area, Matilda was invited to present on workplace investigations at the Crown Leadership Employment Law & Workplace Relations Masterclass in December 2025, delivering practical guidance to human resources professionals and business leaders on conducting effective investigations, managing workplace risk, and ensuring fair and defensible processes.
Prior to joining Mellor Olsson, Matilda worked at a highly regarded boutique law firm specialising in workers compensation, where she gained valuable experience advising on complex workers compensation and injury management matters and developed a strong foundation in advocacy, client management, and dispute resolution.
Holding a Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) in addition to her legal qualifications, Matilda brings a valuable dual perspective to her work. Her background in human resources provides her with a strong understanding of workplace dynamics, people management, and organisational compliance, allowing her to deliver advice that is both legally sound and commercially practical.
