Tim's broad practice encompasses employment, litigation, planning, development and environmental law. He was awarded the Lawyer of the Year for Planning & Environment in Adelaide by Best Lawyers Australia (2019 edition).

Biography

Tim joined Mellor Olsson in 1981 and was previously a Partner of the predecessor firm, Mellors, prior to the merger with Olssons in 1992.

He has developed an extensive practice, particularly in the areas of planning, development and environmental law. Tim's work has largely focused on rural issues, including acting for a large number of pastoralists in relation to native title claims.

Tim's practice has also extended to advice and representation regarding employment law. This has included issues with employment contracts, the interpretation and application of industrial awards, workplace health and safety and allied discrimination.

These areas of practice, and his work in general commercial and estate litigation, have seen Tim dealing with all levels of Government and in court appearances in all State and Federal Courts.

Tim has been a member of the Council of The Law Society of South Australia since 2005, and during that time he has served as an Executive Member, including as President. He has been actively involved in the National Environmental Law Association over many years, including periods as President of the South Australian branch and as National President.

Tim is the fourth generation of the Mellor family to work in the firm.
